Barbara Mallek
Barbara’s art background is quite diverse. She received an MA in Art at Notre Dame University and has attended numerous classes and workshops throughout the United States. For 28 years she taught art in public schools, grades 1 – 12 and calls herself a “jack-of-all-trades” in art because she needed to be prepared to teach various mediums and styles to students of many different levels and needs. When she retired from teaching in 1995 her professional art career began. Barbara works in watercolor, acrylics and stained papers incorporating vibrant colors and layering in her work. “My rendering is more of an analytic interpretation into the truth of a subject rather than copying the photo likeness of the subject.” She is a member of both the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society and the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media.
